Director of IT and Business Services
The role will be reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer this role sits on the Corporate Services SLT and leads IT, Information Management, Estates, Business Continuity and Security. Working collaboratively across FRC to ensure the enhanced delivery and reset of an organisational Technology Strategy will be a key focus of the role.
Job Description
Responsibilities include
- Provide strategic leadership, coordination and planning to the IT and Business Services teams, directing and coordinating their efforts and ensuring they are supported and developed.
- Own, develop and deliver the IT Strategy, ensuring deliverables are met to a high standard through effective stakeholder management, project management, and resource management.
- Develop a continuous improvement programme ensuring technology services adapt change and improve with organisational needs.
- Leadership of Estates, Business Services, Business Continuity and Security to ensure the organisation is enabled to operate optimally.
- Evaluating our business continuity plan to ensure effective testing of our operational resilience strategy in the event of a security incident
- Use existing experience and knowledge of security risk management to identify areas for improvement in FRC to advance overall security maturity and resilience in line with UK Government’s cyber security strategy.
- Work with Government Property Agency to provide innovative and flexible property solutions to support any FRC organisational changes in workforce.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Experience of operational delivery in an environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders with the ability to communicate and influence appropriately.
- Experience of working against relevant security frameworks, such as the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework, and able to assess the overall maturity of the organisation.
- Highly developed people leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate teams of professionals.
- Financially minded with experience of managing large budgets. Focus on performance, value for money and financial management.
- Project and Programme Management expertise across a portfolio of projects including Estates and IT.
- Experience of managing estates across various locations, and providing high levels of service for staff
- ExCo and Board level interactions will be a key part of the role.
- Ability to prioritise a broad mix of strategic and operational responsibilities.
- External networks of technology providers and services.
- Acting as a key member of the CSD
- Senior Level direct reports
- Deep analytical and technical skills along will be key in this role.

This role will require regular travel to our London office. Candidates should be comfortable commuting to London on as and when required.

The role is based in our central Birmingham office. The post holder should be able to work flexibly to support the team’s activities and also provide cover within the FRC as necessary. The FRC operates a hybrid working arrangement with its workforce. The FRC operates a hybrid working arrangement, with a expectation that 40% of a person's working time will be located at one of our offices per week, with precise arrangements to be agreed between the employee and the line manager.
